From Hondo, Texas, to the High Plains, it’s been an interesting journey for Jason Britsch, Public Information Officer for the TxDOT Amarillo District. Long before he was giving updates on construction projects and safe driving campaigns, Britsch was covering local sports at KAMR Local 4 News. 

Adam Leathers, the Senior Director of the United Way of Amarillo & Canyon, stopped by “Let’s Talk About It” with KAMR Local 4 News Anchor Andy Justus to discuss the upcoming changes in the community.

The Amarillo Area Foundation is under new leadership but their mission of improving the quality of life in the top 26 remains the same. Keralee Clay took the job on an interim basis after Clay Stribling stepped down but now is settling into the job permanently after an extensive search.

Fermi America’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Cathy Landtroop, joins KAMR Local 4’s Andy in this week’s Let’s Talk About It. Landtroop addresses Fermi’s project already underway near Pantex in Carson County.  From the company name to the timeline to produce nuclear energy, Landtroop covers a lot of ground in hopes of giving the community a better understanding of what she calls a one-of-a-kind project.
 

Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas is currently serving his fifth term in Potter County and is currently on a new mission. The long-time law enforcement advocate is presently working with a local non-profit. Thomas and several other community members are raising money to get the proposed Texas Panhandle First Responders Memorial underway in downtown Amarillo.

In this edition of Let's Talk About It, Andy Justus meets with Wilson Lemieux of the Lemieux Company to discuss video production, advertising and starting a business on the High Plains.

From a ghost town to a heavenly haven for boys and girls, Boys Ranch has been making a difference since 1939, and few know its history better than Mike Pacino. He began working at the ranch in 1987, but you wouldn’t know it based on his vast knowledge of this High Plains landmark.

Friday night lights are shining brightly across the fields of the High Plains as the region settles into the full swing of football season. However, one growing issue is dimming the glow of this favored fall sport: a shortage of officials.

Mari Ferrel has been part of the KAMR Local 4 News team since November 2022. Ferrel has been a native of the Eastern New Mexico/ West Texas area for a little over 20 years.
Ferrel was raised in the small border town of Farwell, Texas. She’s had a passion for meteorology since she was a young girl, and recently developed a brand new passion while working at KAMR Local 4 News. She started to develop a passion for news. Ferrel is the new co-anchor for Studio 4 and the KAMR Local 4 News at 5:00, 6:00, and 10:00.
 

The GoldenLight Cafe & Catina in Amarillo is not only the oldest active restaurant in the city but also a sanctuary of burgers, beers, and live music. Since its opening in 1946, the GoldenLight has stood as a local favorite and an iconic stop along Historic Route 66.
